Trae’s Story: Learning Disabled to Avid Reader

Our son Trae, started struggling with reading in the first grade, we had him tested for a learning disability and began receiving extra help at school along with tutoring during the summers. He did ok for a while and when he hit the fourth grade reading became a necessity for learning and we noticed more problems. We were frustrated and so was he, it was during this time we heard about Vision Development Center. We began therapy and he even told Dr. Bauernfiend that 'he saw no point in reading and that reading was stupid'. He worked hard not only during his sessions but at home too, and we began to see results. Small ones at first like during basketball he made a lot more shots than he had the year before and then we started seeing a difference in school work. It wasn't until this school year though that the huge difference came, his level of reading jumped by leaps and bounds and his tests scores increased, he is asking to read now and he has a new love for writing. All these were areas where he struggled before and now he is seeing that his hard work is paying off. We are so grateful to have found Dr. Bauernfiend and truly feel it was through her that our son was helped!
